SB1136 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes sections 38-727, 38-808, 38-842, 38-844, 38-849, and 38-890 relating to public retirement systems for elected officials and public safety personnel.

• Changes minimum required distribution age from seventy and one-half years to seventy-two years for ASRS, elected officials' retirement plan, and public safety personnel retirement system.

• Clarifies that elected officials are eligible for ASRS service credit if their employer is a participating employer and they are eligible for that service credit.

• Modifies reemployment provisions for retired members, allowing those who retired after July 1, 2009 to resume receiving pension payments after a twelve-month period (minus any non-reemployment gaps of at least sixty consecutive days) when reemployed with the same employer.

• Allows retired members receiving disability pensions to accept job reassignments as accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act without triggering pension suspension requirements.
