SB 1139 Summary

• Amends Arizona's classroom site fund statute to change how school districts and charter schools must allocate funds received from the state, removing specific percentage requirements for teacher compensation and maintenance/operations spending.

• Modifies section 15-977 to eliminate the previous mandated allocation structure (40% for performance-based teacher compensation, 20% for base salary increases, 40% for maintenance and operations) and directs districts to follow allocation procedures prescribed in the statute instead.

• Updates section 42-5029.02 to redirect remaining revenues after other educational appropriations to the classroom site fund and specifies allocation percentages: 40% for teacher compensation based on performance, 20% for teacher base compensation increases, and 40% for maintenance and operations.

• Makes conforming changes to sections 15-2084 and 15-2085 regarding school improvement revenue bond debt service fund accounts to reference the new funding distribution provisions.
