School districts and charter schools must accept and review seizure management and treatment plans from parents or guardians of students with seizure disorders beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.

Plans must be developed by the student's parent or guardian and the student's physician, outline seizure management procedures, and identify available health care services at school.

School nurses or designated employees must review submitted plans, and schools are granted civil immunity for good faith implementation except in cases of gross negligence, willful misconduct, or intentional wrongdoing.

School nurses employed by or under contract with schools must complete an online course on managing students with seizure disorders approved by the state board of education by December 1, 2021.

School employees with regular student contact must complete online training on seizure awareness and first aid, and schools may satisfy these requirements through existing Section 504 accommodation plans that include seizure management components.
