Requires the person completing a death certificate to record the decedent's sex to reflect their gender identity unless presented with documents memorializing a gender transition.

If a document showing gender transition (such as a court order, health care directive, or updated birth certificate) is presented, the death certificate must record the sex corresponding to the gender identity shown in that document, with the most recent document prevailing if multiple documents conflict.

Allows persons with the right to control disposition of remains to report the decedent's gender identity if no gender transition document is presented and they disagree with the reported identity.

Permits local registrars, deputy local registrars, or the state registrar to amend the sex on a registered death certificate upon being presented with a document memorializing a gender transition.

Provides immunity from civil liability and professional disciplinary action for health care providers who complete and sign medical certifications of death in good faith under this section.
