• Allows dentists without an anesthesia permit to perform procedures on patients receiving anesthesia administered by a qualified anesthesia provider (physician with anesthesiology residency or certified registered nurse anesthetist with national board certification) who is exclusively responsible for anesthetic management.

• Requires physicians or certified registered nurse anesthetists providing anesthesia in dental offices to submit a completed affidavit to both the dental board and their own regulatory board verifying compliance with equipment, facility, and monitoring requirements consistent with national standards.

• Requires the board to report adverse anesthesia outcomes involving non-board-licensed anesthesia providers to the appropriate health profession regulatory board that licenses that provider.

• Maintains existing permit requirements for dentists administering general anesthesia, semiconscious sedation, or conscious sedation, with a maximum fee of $300 for permit issuance.
