Expands qualified professionals who may conduct psychiatric assessments of children to include psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioners, in addition to psychologists, psychiatrists, and physicians.

Requires the professional conducting an inpatient assessment to provide the assessment to the entity, and changes the deadline for filing a motion for inpatient psychiatric acute care services from "within" to "not later than" twenty-four hours after receiving the assessment.

Adds a definition of "psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner" referencing section 36-501.

Reorganizes the definitions section (section S) to separately define "child" and "psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner" as numbered subsections.
