HB2123 - Funerals; Regulation; Continuation

• Amends section 32-1301 of Arizona Revised Statutes to replace terminology related to funeral industry licensing, changing references from "license" to "registration" and "licensee" to "registrant" throughout the definitions chapter.

• Repeals section 41-3022.22 of Arizona Revised Statutes and establishes that the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers terminates on March 31, 2023, with Title 32, Chapter 12 repealed on January 1, 2024.

• Continues the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers through March 31, 2023 to allow time for proper legislative consideration and transference of regulatory responsibilities for public health and safety purposes.

• Directs the Legislative Council Staff to prepare conforming legislation for the 56th Legislature, First Regular Session to align statutes with the provisions of this act.

• Makes amendments effective from and after March 31, 2023 for section 32-1301, while sections 2 and 3 apply retroactively to July 1, 2022.
