AZ HB2279

Increases the student count threshold for school district lapsing from 8 pupils to 150 pupils between ages 6 and 21 years for one school year.

Authorizes the county board of supervisors to declare a school district lapsed and attach its territory to one or more adjoining school districts when student count falls below the threshold.

Requires the county school superintendent to determine all unbonded indebtedness of a lapsed school district and draw warrants for payment from the county treasurer.

Directs that any remaining balance after payment of unbonded indebtedness be transferred to the county school fund.

Allows the county school superintendent to provide additional time for school districts to recruit more pupils before declaring the district lapsed.
