State agencies and political subdivisions must consider electric vehicles and long-term maintenance and fuel costs when purchasing new motor vehicles.

Political subdivisions (counties, cities, towns) may apply to the Department of Administration for reimbursement of the price difference between electric and fossil fuel vehicles, with reimbursement distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Arizona Commerce Authority shall administer an electric vehicle charging station grant pilot program prioritizing Level 3 fast charging stations in underserved rural areas without existing charger access, with stations available to the general public.

Authority must submit a report one year after program launch detailing results and estimating greenhouse gas emissions avoided from vehicles using the charging stations.

Appropriates $1,000,000 each in fiscal year 2022-2023 to the Department of Administration for vehicle reimbursement and to the Arizona Commerce Authority for the charging station grant program.
