Requires persons to store or keep firearms or ammunition in a residence under their control in a securely locked box or equipped with a device rendering it inoperable without a key or combination.

Alternatively allows storage if the firearm or ammunition is carried on the person or kept in close proximity so it can be readily retrieved and used.

Establishes a civil penalty of at least $1,000 for violations of the storage requirements.

Applies to title 13, chapter 31 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to weapons offenses.
