HB 2374 Summary

• Amends the acute care at home pilot program established in Laws 2021, chapter 320, section 22 to allow hospitals to use mobile paramedics as part of their service delivery model.

• Mobile paramedics must have at least two years of paramedic experience and be certified in community paramedicine by a recognized certifying body (required before January 1, 2023 for existing paramedics; required before employment for those hired after that date).

• Mobile paramedics must work under supervision and delegation of a licensed physician employed by the ambulance service, with the physician responsible for directing and reviewing all services provided.

• Mobile paramedics may provide one or both of the twice-daily required onsite patient assessment visits, potentially replacing visits by registered nurses or advanced practice providers.

• Extends the repeal date of the pilot program section from December 31, 2024 (no change to repeal date specified in amendments).
