HB 2430 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 16-322 to include the secretary of state in the nomination petition signature requirement for state offices, requiring signatures equal to at least one-fourth of one percent but not more than ten percent of qualified state voters.

• Modifies section 16-502 to place the secretary of state election on the nonpartisan ballot (Section Two) rather than the partisan ballot (Section One), alongside justices, judges, and school district officials.

• Establishes that signature requirements and voter registration calculations for the secretary of state position shall use the total number of active registered voters in the state as the basis, consistent with school district calculations.

• Effective December 31, 2022.
