Appropriates $74,000,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2022-2023 to provide a one-time retention incentive payment to certified peace officers employed by state and local agencies.

State treasurer shall distribute funds to each recipient agency, board, commission, or department based on the number of certified peace officers employed as of the date the legislature adjourned the 2022 session (sine die), with distribution required by December 31, 2022.

Each recipient agency must promptly distribute all received funds to its certified peace officers who were employed on the sine die date.

State treasurer may use up to $250,000 of appropriated funds to administer distribution and reimburse travel expenses for Arizona Backs the Blue ambassadors appointed to distribute the monies.

Any unexpended and unencumbered funds remaining on July 1, 2023 revert to the state general fund; excludes chief administrative officials and reserve officers from receiving payments.
