HB 2682 - Climate Change Study Committee

• Establishes a climate change study committee consisting of 2 senators, 2 representatives, and 7 appointed members including experts in climatology, state economy, land management, and tourism industry representatives, plus 3 public members.

• Committee shall assess current and potential effects of climate change on Arizona's citizens, natural resources, public health, and economy; estimate costs of climate change; and examine measures to prevent or mitigate flooding, erosion, drought, and wildfires.

• Committee must recommend laws and regulations to minimize adverse climate change impacts and conduct hearings throughout the state.

• Committee shall submit a report with findings and recommendations to the governor, legislature leadership, and natural resources/energy/water committee chairs by January 1, 2024.

• Committee provisions expire and the committee is repealed on June 30, 2025.
