• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 20-464 to clarify rules for assignment of benefits under disability insurance contracts.

• When an insured assigns payment for benefits to a health care provider for covered services, payment must be made only to the assigned health care provider if the contract permits assignments and assignment is delivered to the insurer.

• Extends the assignment of benefits restrictions to service corporations operating under Chapter 4, Article 3 of Arizona insurance law.

• Applies the section to insurers whether they are acting as an insurer or performing administrative services.

• Effective date: April 18, 2022.
