AZ HCR2002

Proposes constitutional amendment to prohibit death sentences in Arizona by adding Article II, Section 38 stating "No person shall be sentenced to death in this state."

Removes reference to "capital offenses" from Article II, Section 22 regarding bail exceptions for certain serious crimes.

Amends Article II, Section 23 to remove death penalty language from jury trial requirements, changing "death or imprisonment" to only "imprisonment for thirty years or more."

Repeals Article XXII, Section 22 of the Arizona Constitution relating to judgment of death.

Requires submission of the proposition to voters at the next general election for approval.
