AZ HCR2011

Proposes constitutional amendment to Arizona Article VII, sections 10 and 17 regarding U.S. Senate candidate nomination procedures.

Requires members of each political party caucus in the Arizona House and Senate to meet jointly and designate by majority vote two candidates from each political party for the U.S. Senate primary ballot.

Mandates a public hearing where legislative members meet with and consider potential U.S. Senate candidates before the designation process.

Changes vacancy procedures for U.S. Senate seats to require legislative designation of primary candidates as prescribed in section 10, rather than standard primary election procedures.

Requires voter approval and gubernatorial proclamation for the constitutional amendments to take effect.
