Arizona Senator Olivia Cajero Bedford passed away on February 9, 2022, after serving four terms each in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Senator Bedford was born August 15, 1938, and became a longtime community activist and legislator known for advocating for her working-class west side Tucson constituency and finding common ground across the political aisle.

She was the daughter of Bernardo "Nayo" Cajero and Carmen Cajero, both legislators who championed free textbooks for Arizona students and funding for the Arizona Cancer Center.

The Legislature expresses regret at Senator Bedford's passing and extends deepest sympathies to her surviving family members, including children Travis Bedford and Tara Chipman, grandchildren, and siblings.

House Concurrent Resolution unanimously adopted by both chambers on March 8, 2022, and filed with the Secretary of State on March 10, 2022.
