AZ SB1045

Prohibits school nurses, counselors, teachers, principals, and administrative officials from encouraging minors to withhold information about gender identity concerns from parents or guardians, or from withholding such information themselves.

Prohibits health professionals from providing puberty-blocking medications, hormone treatments, or surgeries to alter appearance or affirm gender identity in minors under 18, with exceptions for treating medically verifiable disorders of sex development.

Classifies violations of the health professional restrictions as a class 4 felony.

Excludes procedures treating minors born with medically verifiable disorders of sex development, including ambiguous sex characteristics or documented chromosomal or hormonal abnormalities.

Does not establish new standards of care or modify medical liability laws for hospitals and physicians.
