Department of Education must establish an alternative assessment advisory committee with the superintendent of public instruction and at least nine appointed members including special education directors, teachers, charter school and tribal representatives, school district superintendents, parents, and nonprofit organization representatives.

Committee shall review findings and recommendations from the alternative assessment study committee established by Laws 2021, chapter 57, and consider any matters relating to alternative assessments and special education.

Committee must provide an update on progress to the alternative assessment study committee by June 30, 2022 in a public hearing, and provide annual updates to the senate and house education committees thereafter.

Section expires and is repealed on June 30, 2025.

Act applies retroactively from November 22, 2021 and takes effect immediately as an emergency measure.
