Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 36-541 regarding court-ordered mental health treatment and state hospital placement.

Requires patients ordered to undergo treatment (unless already hospitalized) to receive at least 25 days of treatment at a local mental health treatment agency before state hospital admission, with exceptions if the court finds the patient won't benefit from local treatment or needs programs unavailable locally.

Allows the medical director of a local mental health treatment agency to file a motion requesting the court to amend the treatment order and place a patient at the state hospital if the patient's condition warrants it and a bed is available.

Requires the state hospital superintendent to notify the court within five days of receiving notice regarding bed availability when a placement amendment is requested.
