AZ SB1401

Requires the Auditor General to annually review the Department of Corrections' compliance with inmate transition programs, release and reporting provisions, rehabilitation requirements, earned release credit programs, and reporting standards, with findings due by September 1 of each year.

Repeals section 41-3022.15 of Arizona Revised Statutes, effective retroactively from July 1, 2022.

Sets the State Department of Corrections termination date as July 1, 2030, with Title 41, Chapter 11 and related statutes repealing on January 1, 2031.

Authorizes the legislature to annually assess whether the Department of Corrections meets statutory requirements and request additional audits, with authority to amend the termination date.

Continues the State Department of Corrections for correctional programs, supervisory staff, and administrative functions related to institutionalization, rehabilitation, parole, and community supervision of adult offenders.
