Employers with at least 50 employees in Arizona must grant employees up to 16 hours of unpaid leave per school year to attend school conferences or activities for their child, with a maximum of 4 hours per day.

Employees are eligible for this leave only after exhausting all vacation, personal, and compensatory leave (except sick and disability leave) and must have worked for the employer for at least 6 consecutive months.

Employees must provide at least 7 days' written notice for scheduled conferences or 24 hours' notice for emergencies, and must consult with the employer to minimize workplace disruption.

Employers may deny leave if granting it would result in more than 5 percent of their workforce taking leave simultaneously, and are not required to compensate employees for this time off.

Schools must offer conferences and activities during both regular school hours and evening hours, and may provide documentation of attendance upon parent request.
