SB 1697 Summary

• Reduces the maximum duration of employment contracts for community college chancellors, vice chancellors, and presidents from five years to three years.

• Allows district boards to enter into employment contracts with these positions for more than one year but not exceeding three years.

• Grandfathers existing employment contracts, allowing chancellors, vice chancellors, and presidents currently under contract to serve until their contracts expire.

• New employment contracts entered into on or after the effective date of the act are subject to the three-year maximum duration limitation.
