AZ SCR1027

Proposes constitutional amendment to create a five-member Arizona Corporation Commission with four members appointed by the governor for eight-year terms and one member elected at general elections for four-year terms.

Establishes a staggered transition schedule for the new structure: two commissioners elected in January 2023, one elected and two appointed in January 2025, two appointed in January 2027, and one elected and one appointed in January 2029.

Limits corporation commissioners to two consecutive terms with a one-year waiting period before serving again; service of one-half or more of a term counts as one full term.

Designates the elected commissioner as chairperson of the commission.

Requires the Secretary of State to submit this amendment to voters at the next general election.
