Allows public safety employees and corrections officers who are rehired after at least six months of bona fide termination (with no prearranged reemployment agreement) or hired by a new employer to make a new retirement plan election within 90 days of rehire

Previously, retirement plan elections were irrevocable for the remainder of employment with any employer under the system, regardless of continuous employment

Applies to employees eligible to choose between the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System and the Public Safety Personnel Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (for public safety employees hired on or after July 1, 2017)

Also applies to probation and surveillance officers eligible to choose between the Corrections Officer Retirement Plan and the Public Safety Personnel Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (for those hired on or after July 1, 2018)

If a rehired employee does not make a new election within 90 days, their previous retirement plan election remains in effect
