HB 2266 Summary

• Amends groundwater code to expand water measuring device requirements to nonexempt wells outside active management areas and irrigation non-expansion areas, with exemptions for wells withdrawing 10 or fewer acre-feet annually for non-irrigation use or 10 or fewer irrigation acres.

• Adds new reporting requirement for persons withdrawing groundwater from nonexempt wells outside active management areas and irrigation non-expansion areas, except those using water only on 10 or fewer contiguous acres for non-irrigation purposes or irrigation on non-integrated farming operations.

• Establishes that new reporting requirement includes well location and registration number, quantity of groundwater withdrawn, fuel or electricity consumed by pump, uses of groundwater, and estimated quantities for those not using water measuring devices.

• Modifies definition in Section 45-402 to change references from "such" to "those" regarding livestock and poultry terminology.

• Corrects subsection lettering in Section 45-604 and Section 45-632 to add new subsections E and L respectively, and updates cross-references and punctuation throughout affected sections.
