AZ HB2722

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 16-621 to authorize the county recorder or any person designated by the board of supervisors to conduct a full hand count of all ballots or any portion of ballots in an election.

Requires that if a hand count covers less than 100 percent of ballots, the specific ballots to be counted must be randomly selected.

Applies to elections where the officer in charge of elections chooses to use tabulating equipment, allowing hand counting as an option or if tabulating equipment becomes impracticable.

Legislature declares the act is intended to clarify existing law regarding the conduct of elections.
