Honors the Honorable Russell K. Pearce, who passed away on January 5, 2023, at age 75 in Mesa following a brief illness.

Recognizes Pearce's service as a fifth-generation Arizonan, including his Army National Guard service from 1965 to 1972 and his two-year church mission from 1967 to 1969.

Acknowledges his 21-year career as a deputy sheriff with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (1970-1991, chief deputy 1993-1994), including a Medal of Valor nomination after being shot in the line of duty.

Recognizes his service in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 to 2009 and in the state Senate, where he served as Senate President in 2011, as well as his roles as director of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety and the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division.

Extends the Legislature's sincere sympathies and condolences to his wife of 47 years, LuAnne, their eight children, and his many grandchildren, friends, and colleagues.
