Honors Peterson Zah, former Navajo Nation Chairman (1982-1987) and President (1990-1994), who died on March 7, 2023, at age 85.

Recognizes his major accomplishments including establishing the Navajo Nation Permanent Fund in 1985, serving as Executive Director of DNA People's Legal Service (1967-1982), and working to resolve disputes between Navajo and Hopi tribes.

Acknowledges his advocacy efforts securing peyote use as a religious sacrament for Native Americans and ensuring Native American interests were reflected in federal environmental legislation including the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act.

Notes his 15-year service as Native American liaison to Arizona State University's president and his success in encouraging universities to accept Native American students at in-state tuition rates.

Expresses the Legislature's regret at his passing and extends condolences to the Navajo Nation and his surviving family members including his wife Rosalind and his children and grandchildren.
