Honors United States Army Specialist Lori Ann Piestewa, a member of the Hopi Tribe from Tuba City, Arizona, on the twentieth anniversary of her death in combat.

Recognizes that Piestewa was killed on March 23, 2003, when her convoy was ambushed during the Iraq War, making her the first Native American woman and first woman in the U.S. military to die in combat in Iraq.

Notes that Piestewa was posthumously promoted to Specialist and awarded the Purple Heart and Prisoner of War Medal for her bravery and dedication.

Encourages Arizona citizens to commemorate the bravery and patriotism of fallen service members like Piestewa and to recognize the Piestewa Fallen Heroes Memorial.

Resolution was unanimously adopted by both the House and Senate on March 23, 2023, and filed with the Secretary of State on March 27, 2023.
