Joe Hart, a lifelong Mohave County resident and fourth-generation Arizonan, passed away on September 11, 2022, at age 78 from complications of kidney disease.

Served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 1992 to 2002 as Speaker Pro Tempore and chaired committees on Public Institutions, Environment, and Government Operations.

Elected as Arizona State Mine Inspector in 2006 and served until retirement in 2021, becoming the first statewide elected official from Mohave County.

Owned and operated multiple radio and television stations in Kingman and co-owned the Black Mountain Cattle Company, and was known for bringing his cattle roping machine "Lightning" to legislative sine die celebrations.

The Legislature expresses its sincere regret at his passing and extends condolences to his surviving wife of 55 years, four daughters, 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
