Requires the person completing a death certificate to record the decedent's sex to reflect the decedent's gender identity.

Allows amendment of a registered death certificate's sex designation if presented with a document memorializing gender transition, including court orders, written instructions, health care directives, clinical treatment records, or documentation of gender changes on birth certificates, driver licenses, or other official documents.

If no gender transition document is presented and the person or majority of persons with right to control disposition of remains disagrees with the reported gender identity, the death certificate shall reflect the gender identity as reported by those persons.

Identifies acceptable documents memorializing gender transition as court orders for name or gender change, written decedent instructions, health care directives, proof of clinical gender transition treatment, or documentation of gender changes on birth certificates, driver licenses, Social Security records, or passports.
