SB 1294 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 13-3827 to require the Department of Public Safety to maintain a separate database of required online identifiers for level two and level three sex offenders, not publicly connected to their names and addresses.

• Authorizes the Department or third-party website maintainer to share registered sex offenders' online identifiers with authorized organizations (internet communication services or safety organizations) for comparison with their own records.

• Defines "required online identifier" to include email addresses, instant messaging, social media accounts, mobile app identifiers, mobile phone numbers, and device identification information, but excludes social security numbers, dates of birth, passwords, and PIN numbers.

• Requires authorized organizations to notify the Department when an offender's online identifier is detected on their system and prohibits further dissemination that the person is a registered sex offender.

• Effective date: June 30, 2024.
