Members of municipal planning commissions, zoning commissions, design review committees, and zoning boards of adjustment and appeals must complete at least 4 hours of training beginning January 1, 2024.

Existing members must complete required training by January 1, 2025; new members must complete training within one year of appointment, with an additional 4 hours required every other year thereafter.

The Arizona Department of Housing must establish training guidelines by January 1, 2024, covering: one hour on meeting procedures and public hearings, one hour on site plans and architectural conventions, and two hours on zoning's impact on housing availability and costs.

Members who fail to complete required training shall be removed from their board or commission appointment.

The Arizona Department of Housing is designated to establish and enforce these training guidelines.
