Employers with at least 50 employees in Arizona must grant employees up to 16 hours of unpaid leave per school year to attend school conferences or activities for their child, with a maximum of 4 hours in a single day.

Employees must have worked for the employer for at least 6 consecutive months, work at least half-time, and exhaust all vacation, personal, and compensatory leave before using school conference leave.

Employees must provide written notice at least 7 days in advance for scheduled conferences or 24 hours for emergencies, and must coordinate with the employer to minimize operational disruption.

Employers are not required to grant leave if doing so would result in more than 5 percent of their workforce taking school conference leave simultaneously, and are not required to compensate employees for this leave time.

Schools must offer parent conferences and activities during both regular school hours and evening hours, and may provide documentation to verify parent attendance upon request.
