SB1526 Summary

• Allows the Arizona water protection fund commission to grant up to $336,000 from the Arizona water protection fund to the Department of Water Resources for administrative costs in fiscal year 2023-2024.

• Authorizes the Department of Environmental Quality to use up to $6,531,000 from the underground storage tank revolving fund in fiscal year 2023-2024 for administrative costs and remediating sewage discharge issues in Naco and other border areas.

• Permits the Arizona navigable stream adjudication commission to use monies from the Arizona water banking fund to pay legal fees in fiscal year 2023-2024.

• Caps the appropriation from the state general fund to the water quality assurance revolving fund at $15,000,000 for fiscal year 2023-2024.

• Freezes vehicle emissions testing fees in Area A at fiscal year 2022-2023 levels for fiscal year 2023-2024 and exempts the Department of Environmental Quality from rulemaking requirements until July 1, 2024.

• Allows the Arizona Department of Agriculture to adjust existing fees in fiscal year 2023-2024 with an intent to generate no more than $218,000 to the general fund, $113,000 to the pesticide trust fund, and $26,000 to the dangerous plants, pests and diseases trust fund.
