Appropriates $400,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2023-2024 to the Arizona Department of Education to distribute to public schools for planting low-biogenic volatile organic compound-emitting trees on school campuses.

Until December 31, 2023, funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively to schools where 75 percent or more of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches; after that date, remaining funds are distributed to any public schools statewide.

Department of Education may require schools receiving funds to submit reports on their use of the appropriated monies.

Public schools may partner with nonprofit organizations to plant the trees on their campuses.

The appropriation is exempt from lapsing provisions under Arizona Revised Statutes Section 35-190.
