AZ SB1697

Prohibits the Arizona Department of Transportation from accepting federal funding for highway or state route construction, maintenance, or expansion if the acceptance is conditioned on designing and constructing a bicycle path or pedestrian walkway as part of the project.

Creates a new prohibition preventing the Department of Transportation from planning, designing, or constructing bicycle paths or pedestrian walkways that are parallel to and separate from highways or state routes.

Applies the prohibition to all highways and state routes, whether they existed before, on, or after the effective date of this section.

Preserves the authority of other state agencies, boards, and political subdivisions to accept federal transportation grants under other provisions of law or charter.
