SB 1711 Summary

• Amends the definition of "emergency medical responder" to clarify that individuals can qualify either by completing a director-certified training program or by receiving approval from an emergency medical services provider's administrative medical director on file with the department.

• Modifies ambulance staffing requirements to specify different standards based on service type and population served: interfacility transportation and rural/wilderness areas (less than 10,000 persons) require one certified technician/physician/nurse plus one technician/responder; areas with 10,000+ persons require two certified technicians with at least one paramedic or advanced technician level.

• Effective December 31, 2023.
