AZ SCR1036

Proposes an amendment to Article VII, Section 10 of the Arizona Constitution relating to direct primary election law.

Requires the Legislature to enact a direct primary election law that provides for nomination of candidates for all elective State, county, and city offices, including U.S. Senator and Representative in Congress.

Establishes that each qualified political party may nominate a number of candidates equal to the number of positions to be filled for each office, with all nominated candidates placed on the general election ballot.

Allows unaffiliated voters and those registered with non-qualified political parties to vote in the primary election of any qualified party on the ballot.

Directs the Secretary of State to submit the proposition to voters at the next general election.
