Changes correctional officers and supervisors at the Department of Corrections from uncovered to covered employee status, effective upon enactment of the amendment.

Affected positions include correctional captain, correctional lieutenant, correctional sergeant, correctional corporal, correctional officer I through IV, community corrections unit supervisor, community corrections group supervisor, and community corrections officer.

Covered employees in these positions retain the same annual leave accrual rate and maximum carryover hours as uncovered employees as of the effective date.

Covered employees gain appeal rights and protection against discharge without cause, except during an initial probationary period where they may be discharged without cause.

Applies only to employees of the state department of corrections employed on the effective date of this amendment in the specified correctional positions.
