Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 20-466 to establish and clarify the operations of the fraud unit within the Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions.

Fraud unit investigators are granted peace officer status and law enforcement powers while employed by the department, subject to Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board qualifications.

Director may investigate insurance fraud, request documents and evidence, issue subpoenas, and share confidential information with other state, federal, and international regulatory agencies and law enforcement authorities.

Annual assessment on each authorized insurer capped at $1,050 to fund fraud unit administration and prosecution; collected monies deposited in state general fund as separate line item exempt from lapsing provisions.

Good faith reports or information provided to the fraud unit are protected from civil or criminal liability for the person filing the report.
