AZ HB2760

Establishes the Education on the Holocaust and Other Genocides Study Committee consisting of six legislators (three senators and three representatives appointed with bipartisan balance), the superintendent of public instruction or designee, two state board of education members, one public school teacher, one university faculty member, and three public members with Holocaust and genocide expertise.

Committee must review course of study and competency requirements for Holocaust and other genocide education in schools, study how to improve teacher lessons and trainings, examine university incorporation of Holocaust teachings, and explore facilitation of speaking engagements by survivors, families, and liberators.

Requires committee to submit a report with recommendations for legislative action to the governor, president of the senate, and speaker of the house of representatives on or before April 1, 2025.

Non-legislative members appointed under the bill are eligible for reimbursement of expenses but not compensation; all appointed members serve at the pleasure of the person who made the appointment.

Committee is repealed effective September 30, 2025; bill was approved by the governor on April 8, 2024.
