AZ HCR2012

Adds Arizona Revised Statutes section 38-1121 allowing certified peace officers, including Department of Public Safety officers, to seek nomination or election to salaried local or state office without first resigning from their position.

Requires peace officers to resign from public employment only after being appointed or elected to a salaried local or state office.

Amends section 41-752 to exempt certified peace officers from the prohibition on state employees being candidates for nomination or election to paid public office.

Submits the measure to Arizona voters at the next general election for approval as a citizen referendum.
