SB 1081 Summary

• Adds section 45-576.10 to Arizona Revised Statutes governing assured water supply designations for cities and towns in exemption areas within the Phoenix Active Management Area.

• Allows the director of the Department of Water Resources to designate portions of cities or towns as having assured water supply if located entirely within an irrigation and water conservation district established under Title 48, Chapter 19.

• Requires cities or towns seeking designation to contract with their irrigation and water conservation district for at least 100 years to receive and deliver water for municipal use on district lands.

• Mandates that sufficient surface water or effluent of adequate quality be continuously available for at least 100 years and that the city or town demonstrate financial capability to construct necessary water facilities, treatment works, and delivery systems.

• Grants the director authority to review or revoke a portion of a city or town's assured water supply designation within an exemption area.
