SB 1236 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 13-3827 to expand the types of sex offenses that require inclusion on the internet sex offender website, including preparatory offenses in addition to completed offenses.

• Adds specific age and sentencing requirements for certain offenses (sexual abuse, molestation of a child, sexual conduct with a minor, child sex trafficking, and related crimes) to be included on the website, requiring either that the victim be under twelve years old or that the offender be at least twenty-one years old and sentenced under section 13-705.

• Requires the Department of Public Safety to include on the sex offender website within twelve months all offenders convicted of listed offenses before the effective date of the act.

• Maintains existing website requirements including offender photographs, names, addresses, offense descriptions, and a separate database for level two and level three offenders' online identifiers.

• Applies retroactively to persons convicted of or adjudicated guilty except insane for offenses listed in the statute that were committed before, on, or after the effective date of the act.
