SB 1284 Summary

• Removes the Major Incident Division from the list of divisions within the Department of Public Safety organizational structure, effective June 30, 2025.

• Repeals Title 41, Chapter 12, Article 4.1 of Arizona Revised Statutes, which contains statutes related to the Major Incident Division.

• Eliminates $600,000 in appropriations for the Major Incident Regional Law Enforcement Task Force from the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission budget, reducing total appropriation from $21,880,400 to $21,280,400.

• Eliminates $17,000,000 in appropriations for the Major Incident Division from the Department of Public Safety budget, reducing total appropriation from $453,108,200 to $436,108,200.

• Transfers all remaining unexpended and unencumbered monies from both the task force and division appropriations to the state general fund, retroactively effective January 7, 2024.
