Governing boards are prohibited from approving or selecting textbooks or instructional materials that contain content reflecting adversely on persons based on race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Applies the same adverse representation prohibition to both common schools (Section 15-721) and high schools (Section 15-722).

School districts must make available textbooks being considered for selection at district offices for at least 60 days before formal selection for public review.

School districts must list all books and materials purchased after January 1, 2023 for school libraries on their websites for at least 60 days after purchase, with exemptions for schools without full-time library media specialists or those with agreements with other libraries.

Schools must notify parents of pupils enrolled in the school of the opening and closing dates of the public review period within seven school days before the opening date.
