County recorders must notify registered voters who used the state voter registration form and have not provided satisfactory evidence of U.S. citizenship to either the motor vehicle division or the county recorder.

Voters have 35 days after notice to provide proof of U.S. citizenship to the county recorder; failure to do so moves their registration to "not registered" status and makes them ineligible to vote.

Voters who provide citizenship proof before 7:00 P.M. on election day remain eligible to vote a full ballot at that election.

Voters registered on or before January 24, 2005, are grandfathered and cannot be required to provide citizenship evidence unless they register in a different Arizona county.

The section expires December 31, 2026, and the act takes effect immediately as an emergency measure.
